Femtosecond laser VisuMax 500

The ZEISS VisuMax is a femtosecond laser with incredible cutting precision, high speed, and a gentle surgical technique for the comfort of both the surgeon and the patient.

Максимальная точность реза
Maximum cutting precision. High-precision optics from ZEISS ensure accurate focusing of the laser beam. The result: minimal laser pulse energy at a high pulse frequency for unparalleled control over incision placement — precisely at the desired depth in the cornea, even when performing three-dimensional curved incisions. Laser pulse frequency — 500 kHz, cutting time — less than 60 seconds.
Отличный визуальный контроль
Excellent visual control. An integrated high‑quality ZEISS surgical microscope, including a digital video camera for real‑time recording of the surgical procedure, ensures precise and consistent control of every stage of the treatment.
Эффективность и рентабельность
Efficiency and cost‑effectiveness. With a laser pulse frequency of 500 kHz, the ZEISS VisuMax ensures short treatment times. This means greater comfort for both the physician and the patient. In addition, the user benefits from a more efficient workflow, higher throughput, and greater patient satisfaction.
Щелевая лампа для большей детализации
Slit lamp for greater detail. The versatile ZEISS VisuMax corneal surgery workstation features an integrated slit lamp for monitoring and control immediately after the respective treatment, without the need to move to another location or change the patient’s position.
Интуитивно понятный интерфейс
Intuitive interface. The ZEISS VisuMax can be easily controlled via a touchscreen and intuitive software. An interactive assistant is integrated at all stages of the procedure to support the surgeon.

Contact lens that precisely matches the corneal surface. The human cornea has a curved surface. That is why ZEISS contact lenses replicate its shape. Three different sizes (S, M, L) are available to ensure an optimal fit for the patient’s anatomy. This avoids corneal deformation, i.e., flattening to a non‑physiological shape. In addition, it helps prevent incision‑related artifacts and an unnecessarily high intraocular pressure level.

Areas of application

Операция ReLEx SMILE
The ReLEx SMILE procedure for minimally invasive laser vision correction. The ZEISS VisuMax allows a refractive lenticule to be created within the intact cornea and removed through a 4 mm incision. No ablation and no corneal flap creation.
  • Lateral incision length up to 80% shorter.
  • Surgical intervention area 30% smaller than with Femto‑LASIK.
  • Lower incidence of dry eye syndrome, reduced degree of nerve transection thanks to minimal incisions.
  • Lower risk of infections, epithelial ingrowth, and flap‑related complications.
  • Reproducible lenticule creation independent of individual corneal characteristics and environmental conditions.
  • Excellent predictability of outcomes, especially when correcting higher refractive errors.
  • Efficient treatment process without the need to move the patient.
Операции Femto-LASIK и PRESBYOND Laser Blended Vision
Femto‑LASIK and PRESBYOND Laser Blended Vision procedures for precise corneal flap creation. The ZEISS VisuMax, in combination with the ZEISS MEL 90 excimer laser and the CRS‑Master treatment planning station, provides the optimal solution for refractive laser surgery. It enables corneal flap creation with high precision and computer‑controlled parameters.
  • Wide range of adjustable settings for flap diameter, thickness, hinge position, and side‑cut angle.
  • High reproducibility and uniformity of flap thickness.
  • Easy repositioning of the flap.
  • Optimal workflow thanks to perfectly matched system components.
  • Smooth stromal bed surface.
  • Anatomically curved glass contact lens and non‑scleral (limbal) vacuum application prevent excessive intraocular pressure rise and, consequently, the risk of temporary vision loss and trauma.
  • A rotating patient positioning system eliminates the need for the patient to move from one treatment station to another. For the patient, the procedure is experienced as a single process, waiting times are minimized, and treatment efficiency is increased.
Кератопластика для трансплантации роговицы
Keratoplasty for corneal transplantation. The ZEISS VisuMax is a modern workstation for creating personalized corneal grafts. It enables smooth lamellar and circular incisions for penetrating keratoplasty, deep anterior lamellar keratoplasty, and endothelial keratoplasty with Descemet membrane removal. High‑quality cutting and a rapid procedure allow corneal grafts to be obtained with high precision and the recipient cornea to be prepared ideally. A practical keratoplasty adapter provides a stable and sterile working surface for graft preparation, while a specially designed curved contact lens prevents unnecessary compression of corneal tissue.
  • High‑quality incisions for anterior lamellar and endothelial keratoplasty.
  • Penetrating keratoplasty with an ideal match for both donor and recipient corneas.
  • Precisely predictable incision profiles for greater reliability when preparing thin grafts.
  • Small spot‑to‑spot distance for excellent incision quality and easy tissue separation.
  • Flexible incision parameter adjustment on the ZEISS VisuMax.
Имплантация интрастромальных роговичных колец
Intrastromal corneal ring segment implantation for creating corneal tunnels with individually adjustable parameters. The ZEISS VisuMax allows corneal tunnels for ring segment implantation to be prepared quickly and easily at the precise position and desired depth. A wide range of adjustable parameters and their various combinations provide the surgeon with a unique degree of flexibility. For the first time, it is also possible to create tunnels with an arc angle of less than 360° using a femtosecond laser: for segments between 90° and 270°, partial tunnels can be designed individually with precision and a high degree of flexibility. This means that individual ring segments can be implanted without additional corneal incisions. Tunnels can thus also be created for mixed ring segments with different geometries.
  • Choice between 0, 1, or 2 trapezoidal incisions facilitates flexible access to the tunnel.
  • Tunnel width and angle can be freely defined and precisely adjusted to the individual corneal shape and the ring geometry used.
  • The ICR option integrated into the ZEISS VisuMax user interface ensures maximum ease of use.
  • Fast and intuitive entry of the required parameters.
  • Ability to save user‑defined incision geometries as templates for repeated use, increasing workflow efficiency.
  • Enhanced reliability through graphical visualization of parameter selection and automatic consistency checking of entered parameters.
  • The unique contact lens is modeled to match the natural shape of the corneal surface, making treatments gentler for the patient.
  • Excellent control of tunnel preparation and ICR insertion, as well as video recording of the entire procedure using the high‑quality ZEISS surgical microscope.
