WaveLight® EX500 excimer laser

WaveLight® EX500 Excimer Laser (Alcon, USA) – currently a premium‑level device. The laser’s high speed and precision, combined with the ability to perform customized procedures, enable excellent clinical outcomes even in the most complex cases.

Description

The design has been optimized to integrate the femtosecond laser WaveLight FS200 and diagnostic equipment into a single WaveLight refractive workstation.

PerfectPulse Technology ensures high precision and safety for optimal correction outcomes.

The WaveLight EX500 excimer laser, with a pulse frequency of 500 Hz, is currently the fastest excimer laser in the world. Increased efficiency due to the new WaveLight algorithm and the world’s fastest laser head result in reduced corneal stromal dehydration during the procedure, decreased system sensitivity to patient movements, and greater patient comfort – all of which contribute to better overall outcomes.

The advanced laser head technology has extended the laser’s lifetime, improving its cost‑effectiveness.

Enhanced beam path technology.

A multidimensional eye‑tracking system with an operating frequency of 1050 Hz provides a response time of only 2 milliseconds.

The latest digital flying‑spot position control technology for precise and controlled ablations.

Calibration and performance management.

Laser calibration accuracy to 0.1 diopter.

Individual centration for each patient.

Multifunctional illumination system.

Motorized movement with high efficiency, requiring no manual control.

White background illumination provides excellent visualization of the surgical field.

Built‑in infrared illuminators support the eye‑tracking system.

Lateral and coaxial illumination for flap visualization and enhanced comfort.

Real‑time non‑contact pachymetry

The pachymeter is based on an OKR interferometer, allowing corneal thickness to be measured and monitored before, during, and after ablations.

Enhanced microscope with integrated video system

The improved surgical microscope also features stepless electronic magnification and a built‑in display that shows: patient information, eye‑tracker data, pachymeter signal quality, and system messages from the laser.

A high‑resolution video camera with brightness adjustment enables both observation and recording of the surgical procedure.

WaveNet information network

The information network server connects all WaveLight systems, primarily the WaveLight EX500 excimer laser and the WaveLight FS200 femtosecond laser, as well as all diagnostic devices, for continuous exchange of patient data required for both correction calculation and diagnostics.

A connectable network printer simplifies the documentation process, facilitating patient workflow management.

A special interface allows access to specific medical data – available upon request and requiring special training.

The planning software can be installed on an independent computer, allowing data to be entered in advance. When such a computer is connected to the WaveNet network, planning data can be transferred to the laser system.

The built‑in WaveLight LED slit illumination system is designed to illuminate the anterior segment of the eye during the procedure, as well as for pre‑ and postoperative examination.

A working distance of 25 cm increases patient comfort and provides the surgeon with optimal conditions for manipulation.

The user‑friendly operator interface, which is an integral part of the laser, includes a keyboard, control panel, and high‑resolution monitor.

The WaveLight EX500 excimer laser is equipped with a USB port, S‑Video connector, card reader, door interlock, network connector for data exchange, and a video monitor.
