07.10.22 – I got rid of my minus vision.
I have had –3.50 and –3 with astigmatism in both eyes since the 5th grade, and I have also undergone multiple eye surgeries.
On 5 October, I flew to Astana, as I had finally decided to have laser vision correction after 9 years of wearing glasses.
About a month before, I went for diagnostics in Atyrau to determine which method to use for the surgery. After a two‑hour diagnostic examination, they said the surgery would be performed using the FemtoLASIK method.
FemtoLASIK is a two‑stage operation: first, a femtosecond laser is used to create an ultra‑thin superficial corneal flap, and then an excimer laser is used for the refractive treatment. (In simple terms, they «stitch» with a laser; the superficial flap is moved aside from the centre of the cornea, the vision is corrected with the laser, and then everything is fixed by returning the superficial flap to its place.)
During the surgery, anaesthetic eye drops were instilled. My doctor, Lazzat, called me «Princess Nuri,» which was very reassuring and helped me focus on achieving a painless vision recovery.
The day after surgery, I could already see things that I couldn’t even see with glasses. I went for a post‑op check‑up with my doctor, and after looking at my result, she said: «Congratulations, Princess Nuri, you have 100% vision!» At that moment, I couldn’t hold back my tears and shed a tear of happiness.
After the surgery, for a whole month, you need to instil drops and wear sunglasses to protect your eyes from bright light and wind.
By the way, I never had sunglasses in my life because I didn’t wear contact lenses to see through sunglasses 🙂 I decided to treat myself and bought Tom Ford glasses with my scholarship, ahaha.
It’s been 3 weeks since the surgery, I see very, very well (touch wood), and I can finally call myself «No longer a four‑eyes girl.»
