At Astana Vision, we believe that a good result begins with precise diagnostics. That is why we place special emphasis on vision diagnostics – it is one of the most important stages.
Why is diagnostics so important?
Laser correction is not just «shaving off» the cornea with a laser. It is a highly precise procedure where every tenth of a millimetre affects your lifetime result. Incomplete or inaccurate diagnostics can lead to underestimation of risks and a less predictable outcome.
At Astana Vision, we perform one of the most comprehensive vision diagnostics in Kazakhstan.
What is included in the extended diagnostics at Astana Vision:
- More than 20–25 key eye parameters
- Corneal topography and pachymetry (thickness and shape mapping)
- Aberrometry (higher‑order aberration analysis)
- Keratotopography (detailed examination of the anterior and posterior corneal surfaces)
- Measurement of dark‑adapted pupil diameter (critical for method selection)
- Assessment of lens and retina condition
- Computerised perimetry (visual field)
- Intraocular pressure measurement
- Pupil dilation (cycloplegia) – when necessary for accurate true refraction
- Tear film and eyelid condition analysis
- And many other examinations
Pupil dilation – why is it needed?
In some cases, we intentionally dilate the pupil with special drops. This allows us to:
- Obtain true refraction (without accommodation influence)
- More accurately assess the lens condition
- Detect latent (hidden) hyperopia and astigmatism
- Without dilation, some data may be distorted, especially in younger patients.
