Total Keratometry (TK) is a combination of a unique three‑zone telecentric keratometry method for the anterior corneal surface and measurement of posterior corneal parameters, taking pachymetry data into account. Total Keratometry delivers highly accurate results that minimize the risk of postoperative refractive surprises.
The ZEISS IOLMaster 700 with Total Keratometry technology uses the new Barrett formulas incorporating TK values, as well as classical formulas for IOL power calculation, with optimized IOL constants. Users have access to a database with constants for 270 IOL models, optimized based on 50,000 implantations. The use of telecentric keratometry ensures accurate and reliable corneal power and curvature parameters. B‑scan along six axes allows examination of patients with denser cataracts than was previously possible.
The technological foundation of the ZEISS IOLMaster 700 is the Swept‑Source OCT technique, which enables measurement and visualization of the cornea, lens, and macula. It allows identification of atypical lens positioning and age‑related changes; the position and configuration of the macular area help assess fixation stability and suggest the presence of pathology.
The ZEISS IOLMaster 700 provides a reference image of limbal vessels, which can be transmitted to the operating microscope computer (Callisto eye) connected to a Lumera‑series microscope. During surgery, the reference image can be overlaid onto the live image of the patient’s eye. This alignment or overlay eliminates the need for manual corneal marking for toric IOL positioning.
The ZEISS IOLMaster 700 allows toric IOL calculations to be performed directly on the device, without the need for an online calculator. It delivers more accurate measurement results, reducing the risk of refractive surprises after IOL implantation.
