EASYRET Ophthalmic Laser

EASYRET is a yellow ophthalmic laser (577 nm) from Quantel Medical (now part of Lumibird Medical, France). It is one of the most modern and popular retinal photocoagulators.

Primary Indications
The laser is intended for retinal photocoagulation:

  • Diabetic retinopathy (including panretinal photocoagulation – PRP)
  • Diabetic macular edema (DME)
  • Central serous chorioretinopathy (CSC)
  • Retinal vein occlusions
  • Other peripheral and macular pathologies

Key Features

  • Wavelength 577 nm (pure yellow) – considered one of the most versatile:
    • Excellent absorption by melanin and oxyhemoglobin
    • Minimal absorption by macular xanthophyll (safer for the central zone)
    • Good penetration through lens opacities and ocular media
  • Technology: Fibre laser (ELBA‑based fibre laser technology) – uniform top‑hat beam profile, high stability, low maintenance, long service life.
  • Operating modes:
    • SingleSpot – classic single spot
    • MultiSpot (Pattern Scanning) – scanning mode with patterns (faster, more comfortable for the patient)
    • SubLiminal® (subthreshold / micropulse) – «invisible» coagulates. Gentle on tissue, no burn scars. Particularly valued in macular treatment (DME, CSC).

Advantages

  • Lower power and energy compared to green lasers (532 nm) → less pain, fewer complications.
  • Intuitive interface with on‑screen prompts.
  • Integration with a slit lamp (Haag‑Streit or Zeiss type).
  • Optionally: MOSAR high‑quality imaging system.
  • Can be combined with other Quantel lasers (e.g., Optimis II).

It is one of the top yellow lasers on the market alongside systems from Iridex, Zeiss, and others. Physicians often praise it for patient comfort, precision, and reliability when working on the macula.

In short: a modern «gentle» yellow retinal laser with excellent capabilities for subthreshold treatment.
