Laser Optimis II

The Optimis II laser is an Nd:YAG laser (1064 nm) from Quantel Medical (France, now part of Lumibird Medical). It is intended for outpatient ophthalmic procedures, mainly following cataract surgery and for glaucoma treatment.

Indications for use:

• Posterior capsulotomy – opening of the opacified posterior capsule after phacoemulsification (secondary cataract).
• Iridotomy / iridectomy – peripheral laser iridotomy for angle‑closure glaucoma.
• Other: division of pupillary membranes, etc.

Key specifications:

• Type: Q‑switched Nd:YAG laser (pulse ~4 ns).
• Integration: Built into a high‑quality slit lamp (Haag‑Streit type) – a compact «all‑in‑one» design.
