Laser vision correction
using the LASIK method.

Currently, the ASTANA VISION clinic network practically does not use this method, as it is considered a morally and technologically outdated laser vision correction technology.
FemtoLASIK – is a technologically advanced modification of the LASIK method.
Laser vision correction using the LASIK method appeared in Kazakhstan relatively long ago. Worldwide, the procedure has been used for over 30 years, during which it has proven its effectiveness, safety, and reliability. Over the past 10 years, clinics and medical centres worldwide have performed more than 25 million procedures, which reflects a high level of patient trust.
Steps of vision correction using the LASIK method.
LASIK correction involves a combination of mechanical microsurgical and excimer laser technology. During the procedure, using a special instrument (a semi‑automatic microkeratome), the ophthalmic surgeon creates a corneal flap, providing access to the inner corneal layers for subsequent laser treatment.
As a result of this treatment, the cornea changes its optical parameters to properly refract light rays and focus the image onto the retina, restoring lost visual acuity. The risk of complications is minimal, there is no painful rehabilitation or long recovery period, and normal vision returns in the shortest possible time.
The procedure is indicated for:
- Myopia up to –5.0 D;
- Astigmatism up to 2.0 D.
The surgery proceeds in several stages:
STEP 1
Creation of a superficial flap using a microkeratome.
STEP 2
The superficial flap is folded to the side.
STEP 3
The corneal shape is corrected using an excimer laser.
STEP 4
The superficial flap is returned to its original position on the cornea.
The procedure is performed sequentially on each eye and takes about 10–15 minutes for both eyes. After surgery, for 2–3 hours the patient may experience some discomfort and should rest at home.
Almost complete recovery is achieved by the next day.
